What's on Your INKEY List?

4 minute read

We all love affordable skin care, but when the skin care is made to be not only affordable but also offer knowledge to help us make better decisions, then you know you're in for the long haul.

This is only some of the magic behind the skin care brand, The INKEY List. You've probably seen their black and white packages floating around your social media and shops alike but what The INKEY List truly offers is anything but black and white.

Skincare With Values on A Mission

The INKEY List was founded by beauty philanthropists Colette Laxton and Mark Curry in 2018. The values behind the brand were to help customers make well-informed decisions about their skin health and care. If you want a better idea of what this means, let's go through The INKEY List founding values:

  • Knowledge: We want you to be able to learn more about your skin so you can get the results you want. We are transparent about the fact that not all ingredients will work for everyone.
  • Quality & Efficacy: We believe our products should be accessible to all, but we will never compromise on quality, ensuring only the best products reach you. Our products are priced to allow you to test and play with ingredients to build your perfect skincare recipe for your ever-changing skincare needs.
  • Transparency: We believe in an open conversation with our community. We may not always get it right, we may make mistakes, but we will inform you, and we will listen. We're a small team of passionate people, and we want to get it right.
  • Equality: We actively commit to being anti-discriminatory and anti-racist. We will act to remove all forms of inequality and inequity within our business. WE ARE FOR EVERYONE.

I Built My INKEY Recipe

If you're new to the brand, I definitely recommend completing the Build Your Recipe questionnaire. By answering a few quick questions, you'll be directed to the INKEY skin care to best suit your needs.

Here's what I found when building my own recipe.

  1. What is your main skin care goal?

I chose Reduce Blackheads and Minimize Pores

  1. Do you have any other goals?

I chose Plump Skin and Target Dryness and Dry Patches.

  1. Is there anything you would like to target around your eye area?

I mean... Dark Circles

  1. What is your skin type?

I am definitely on the drier side, so I chose Dry Skin

  1. Do you have sensitive skin?

Yes.

My INKEY Recipe

After completing the questionnaire, I was greeted with a personalized skincare recipe that was promising to take care of all my skin care concerns. My recipe is a 7-step recipe that includes everything from a cleanser to treatments. Needless to say, I was impressed, and everything in my recipe (that was available for purchase) was for the total cost of $54.95!! Let's go through it!

Step 1: Clean

Oat Cleansing Balm, $9.99

"This luxurious cleansing balm gently dissolves make-up while cleansing and nourishing the skin, making it ideal for sensitive skin types. Combining soothing colloidal oatmeal with ceramides to support the skin’s natural protective barrier, it's also formulated with oat kernel oil."

Step 2: Hydrate

Hyaluronic Acid, $7.99

"The product we would recommend to everyone. Hyaluronic Acid is a powerful moisture-binding super ingredient capable of holding 1000x its weight in water. This moisture magnet is naturally found in the skin, helping your cells retain as much moisture as possible."

Step 3: Treat

Collagen Booster, $10.99

"A serum that works to make the skin appear plumper and firmer, to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles."

Polyglutamic Acid, $14.99

"A powerful hydrator for the skin's surface, Polygluatmic Acid can hold 4x more moisture than Hyaluronic Acid, locking in moisture and helping the skin appear instantly smoother."

Step 4: Eye Treatments

Brighten-i Eye Cream, $9.99

"A brightening under-eye cream that combines skincare and cosmetics, providing both long and short-term benefits. Four times more potent than Vitamin C, Brighten-i under-eye cream reduces dark circles' appearance and helps to illuminate and prime the under-eye area for an instant boost or an ideal make-up base. The cooling metal applicator helps soothe the under-eye area for instantly awake eyes."

Step 5: Moisturize

Peptide Moisturizer, $14.99

"A nurturing yet fast-absorbing daily moisturizer with a peptide duo that helps support natural collagen and hydrate skin. Peptides are small but mighty amino acid chains that support the firming, hydrating proteins for your skin. With continued use, these peptides help support natural collagen, leaving skin looking youthful and feeling comfortable."

Squalane, $11.99

"A natural, super-lightweight face oil that improves skin hydration and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines. 100% plant-derived, this Squalane oil is a lightweight, non-greasy oil that's super-hydrating for healthy, glowing skin. It can also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and support oil control. So it\'s a great choice for all skin types, from dry to oily skin."

Step 6: SPF

"The most important step for skin! Using a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day is essential. Spf 30 Sunscreen Coming Soon."

Step 7: Also Try

Kaolin Clay Mask, $6.99

"A natural, deep-cleaning face mask using high-grade clay to help absorb excess oil. Great for oil/blemish-prone skin. Great for blemish-prone skin, this white clay helps to draw out impurities and improve oil control. It can be used regularly without drying the skin. Kaolin Clay is gentle, so it's perfect for all skin types as a deep clean once or twice a week."
